ADF Project Activities and Strategic Plan – 2019 to 2022

• Scope

The purpose of this long-range strategic plan is to form the bases for the Archaeology & Development Foundation (ADF) to contribute to Phnom Kulen National Park knowledge, protection and development. This strategy should be reviewed annually to ensure it is relevant, to create an opportunity for adjustments to be made and to fit with changing circumstances and conditions. e.g. socio economic, political, environmental, archaeology etc...

• Goals

 Archaeology 
To contribute, with key stakeholders & partners, to the exploration (mapping, excavations…), research, preservation & restoration of all historical sites within the boundaries of Phnom Kulen National Park.
Development
To contribute, with key stakeholders & partners, to enhance the local community, socially, culturally and economically, to advance in an environmentally sustainable manor, without affecting and damaging the National Park natural biodiversity and historical heritage.
Environment 
To contribute, with key stakeholders & partners, to increase and rehabilitate the biodiversity and ecosystems of the Phnom Kulen National Park.
Management
A proper management of all ADF activities and staff, with proper relation with partners and donors.

• Purpose

ADF’s multi sector approach promotes synergies between archaeology, alternative livelihoods, development and the environment protection in this Cambodia’s most unique National Park. 

• Implementation

ADF is implementing different activities to achieve the goals mentioned above. Each activity is “tailored-made” for the Phnom Kulen National Park situation, characteristics and problems. They are all linked together as they imply to deal with a growing population, living in a National Park with a rich archaeological heritage. 
All these activities intend to reduce poverty, enhance the socio-economic situation of the communities, preserve the natural environment, and research and preserve the Khmer cultural heritage in Phnom Kulen region. 
All these activities are implemented within Memorandum of Understanding signed with the APSARA National Authority (signed on the 2nd of October 2017) and the Ministry of Environment (21st March 2019), from the Royal Government of Cambodia.
They are presented below per type, corresponding to our activities.
